Being a dyed-in-the-wool shit-stirrer, I can't resist this.
There is a strong overlap between those men who say (paraphrase) "boys will be boys, so women had better watch out" and those who say (paraphrase) "if everyone were armed, this would be a polite society".
Simple question for that set of folks: how do you feel about women going around armed and shooting anyone who even suggests they might sexually attack them? How would you feel about a "my vagina is my castle" doctrine for women, exonerating any violence with guns if they felt they were threatened with sexual assault? I mean, doesn't the real Castle Doctrine say that people who fear imminent bodily harm have a right to defend themselves with guns?
Or do supporters of purdah and patriarchy draw the line at women owning guns? Just asking, since the medieval mindset of both groups leaves me completely baffled.
Imagine if all women went around armed - what would that do to the rape/sexual assault rate? OTOH, maybe its just as dumb a solution as concealed carry in a bar.
I am actually interested to see this discussion play out. Not that I have anything to contribute to it. Although, I might snipe from the sidelines
